British Fast5 Netball All-Stars Championship

British Fast5 Netball All-Stars

🏐 Netball World Cup withdrawal symptoms?  Look no further than the British Fast5 All-Stars Championship at the Copper Box Arena this afternoon featuring a host of England Rose and international stars.  Tickets are sold out.

The sport of netball has never been so buoyant in the UK after an exhilarating World Cup hosted in Liverpool earlier this summer which saw New Zealand crowned champions against Australia.  England Roses took bronze against South Africa while Scotland and Northern Island put in some memorable performances.

This afternoon’s British Fast5 All-Stars Championship is the perfect way to enjoy the best of club action with the top eight teams from the conclusion of the 2019 Vitality Superleague taking part.  Defending All-Stars champions Wasps are joined by Severn Stars,  Celtic Dragons, Manchester Thunder, Team Bath, Loughborough Lightning, Saracens Mavericks and Surrey Storm.

An electrifying tournament features 12-minute matches, an all-star 5-point line and a Golden Buzzer Power Play all part of an all-action afternoon of non-stop, pulsating netball.  A number of the England Roses side are set to showcase their talents and with teams having the opportunity to recruit two all-star players for the day expect to see international stars from around the world added to the line-up.

Ones to watch: For Team Bath expect Serena Guthrie – the England captain and standout performer for the Roses in their bid to win a first World Cup – to dominate the mid-court area.  Meanwhile Wasps’ Rachel Dunn will be key if they are to retain the trophy.  Dunn delivered a shooting masterclass in last year’s final – and was named as tournament MVP – as Wasps triumphed 42-32 against the Mavericks.

🏐 First match at 1pm.  Action through until 6pm.

About the British Fast5 All-Stars Championship: The Fast5 All-Stars takes place across a non-stop five-hour session where eight teams play in a double elimination format; two wins and the team will advance straight through to the semi finals, two losses will result in being knocked out of the tournament with teams winning one and losing one of their opening matches playing a deciding match for a place in the last four.

The defending champions are Wasps Netball who won their maiden British Fast5 All-Stars title in 2018 with a 42-32 victory over the Mavericks at the Copper Box.

Note: Stand by for the new Vitality Superleague season in January 2020!  In the London area there are 3 teams to watch; London Pulse (2020 is their second season in the VNSL) playing out of the Copper Box Arena, Surrey Storm (2-time winners) based in Guildford and Saracens Mavericks (2 times winners, runners up 5 times) from Hertfordshire.  Home match updates will appear on our What’s On page for London.
