Just four teams remain in contention to lift the trophy on the hallowed turf at Wembley this February. The semi-final draw pitted Liverpool against Fulham and Chelsea against Middlesbrough. The teams play each other over two legs with the finalists confirmed by the end of January. Carabao Cup Final hospitality is available for the big day.
Update: 25 January. It’s official – Chelsea will meet Liverpool in the final! The Blues saw off Middlesbrough by an impressive 6-2 aggregate margin in their semi-final. Meanwhile the Reds came through a tense last-four encounter with Fulham. A 1-1 draw in the second leg securing a 3-2 aggregate win.
Manchester United are the current cup holders. They beat Newcastle United 2-0 last February to claim their first piece of silverware in six years. Marcus Rashford and Casemiro were the goal scorers for the Red Devils.
In 2022 two more powerhouses of English football went head-to-head in the EFL Cup final. Liverpool and Chelsea locked horns for 120 minutes with neither able to find the net. The Reds ultimately prevailed, winning the penalty shootout 11-10.
Who will triumph this year and lift the first major silverware of the season? It’s takes two to tango but only one team will have their name engraved on the trophy come the final whistle at Wembley Stadium.
