BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth

World-class golf on the West Course can only mean one thing.  The BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth is back for 2019 with a stellar cast due on the Virginia Water fairways.  Tickets are on sale.

Taking place from 19-22 September this flagship event on the European Tour calendar is set to attract the best field the tournament has ever seen.

Defending champion Francesco Molinari and FedEx Cup winner Rory McIlroy are both confirmed, while Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson – both major winners – are joined by fellow Team Europe stars Tommy Fleetwood, Alex Noren and Jon Rahm all set to tee up at Wentworth.

For Molinari it’s a welcome return to Wentworth Club after his title win last year launched an unforgettable season.  The Italian finished two shots clear of his Ryder Cup teammate and former winner Rory McIlroy last May to lift the coveted trophy before going on to become the first Italian to win The Open Championship sealing his maiden major title at Carnoustie in July.  He also became the first European to claim five points out of five in a Ryder Cup as Europe defeated the United States at Le Golf National

With a $7million prize fund and the prestigious trophy at stake this year’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth  is also the first opportunity for the European players to gain qualification points as they look to make Padraig Harrington’s 2020 European Ryder Cup team for Whistling Straits.

Paul Casey, Tyrrell Hatton and Ian Poulter – who all featured in Europe’s win over USA last year – are the latest players to throw their names in the hat and commit to the fourth Rolex Series event of the season.

“I am delighted to be returning to the BMW PGA Championship,” said Casey. “Obviously Wentworth is one of my favourite golf courses and I have such fantastic memories there.

Three players from Team USA will be making their debuts in the tournament, with Patrick Reed, Tony Finau and Billy Horschel all recently confirming their attendance.for Whistling Straits.

In addition to the golf there’s live music on Saturday and Sunday evening with tickets on sale to fans to see a top class line-up of entertainment on the Slingsby Show Stage in the BMW Championship village featuring Rudimental on Saturday night and Anne Marie on Sunday September 22.

A practice day takes place on the Tuesday followed by a celebrity Pro Am day on Wednesday with tickets available for both.  The tournament takes place Thursday to Sunday.

Daily schedule and players – the full entry list including tee times will appear here as soon as it is made.
