CONGRATULATIONS to Team Europe (pictured below) who celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Mosconi Cup with a resounding defeat of Team USA. Led by rookie captain Ralph Eckert, the hosts proved far too strong over four days of 9-ball action at the iconic Alexandra Palace. The 11-3 winning scoreline brought up the fourth consecutive title for Team Europe. Congratulations to Europe and star player Joshua Filler who was named Mosconi Cup MVP for a third time. 2023 EVENT PREVIEW
The Alexandra Palace is the place to be this week for the 30th anniversary of this annual pool showdown between Europe and USA dating back to 1994. Taking place 6-9 December expect Team Europe to start as favourites as they look to replicate their 11-6 victory in 2021, with Mosconi Cup tickets on sale now to witness the action.
Team USA are desperate to take back the trophy having lost out to Team Europe for three years in a row. The latest edition of the trophy took place in Las Vegas in December 2022. Germany’s superstar Joshua Filler, MVP for the tournament, sank the winning balls to secure an 11-7 victory for Team Europe.
The top five players from Team Europe and Team USA are all set for four days of world-class sporting action in pool’s most intimidating arena. Will Europe retain the trophy on home soil, or will USA upset the party and take the pool spoils back to America? 🚊🚗 Travel tips: The nearest overground railway station is Alexandra Palace situated at the Wood Green entrance to the park. The station is on the Great Northern line. Trains arrive direct from Moorgate, passing through Old Street, Highbury & Islington and Finsbury Park. Or take a train from Kings Cross, changing at Finsbury Park. The nearest tube station is Wood Green on the Piccadilly line. This has a journey time of 20 minutes from Piccadilly Circus. Exit the station and go to bus stop A to pick the up the W3 bus to Alexandra Palace.
The W3 bus runs from Finsbury Park and Tottenham directly to the venue. If driving, the East car park is open most days. There are 1,200 parking spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis. A donation of £3 per vehicle is recommended. This goes towards the costs of looking after the Palace and the Park. Plan your journey using the Transport for London website.
