Taking place from 10-17 January the 2027 Masters Snooker tournament is the latest instalment of an event with a rich history dating back to 1975. Only the elite top 16 players are invited to compete for the Masters title and a top prize of £250,000. Together with the World Championship and UK Championship, it’s one of snooker’s Triple Crown of events. Masters Snooker tickets are on sale now.
CURRENT CHAMPION
Reigning champion Kyren Wilson is set to defend the Masters Snooker title he won in 2026. Wilson got his hands on the Paul Hunter Trophy at the third attempt beating two-time winner John Higgins 10-6 in the final.
The victory was Alexandra Palace redemption for Wilson. He’d lost to Mark Allen in the 2018 final before losing to Shaun Murphy in the 2025 final. On that occasion ‘The Magician’ rolled back for the years at the Ally Pally, achieving only the sixth 147 break in the tournament’s history in the semi-finals, before defeating Wilson 10-7 in the final.
MASTERS SNOOKER – ONES TO WATCH

World number one Judd Trump is another player with his sights set on the title. Trump won the Masters for a second time in 2023, beating Mark Williams 10-8 in the final. Trump fought back from 7-6 down to become the 11th player to win the prestigious Masters crown on more than one occasion. And in doing so he denied Williams the chance to become the oldest winner of a Triple Crown event at the age of 47.
2024 world champion Kyren Wilson will look to finally win the Master title which has eluded him to date. Wilson has twice been a runner-up, against Mark Allen in 2018 and again last year against Shaun Murphy.
2022 champion Neil Robertson – a two-time winner – will be another player to watch. Likewise the aforementioned Mark Allen and 2015 champion Shaun Murphy will have a second title in their sights if they can qualify as a top-16 player. Another player who could be in the frame is Mark Selby, a winner in 2008, 2010 and 2013. Selby will bid to join the elite club of players to have lifted the famous trophy four times.
And last but not least all eyes will be on Ronnie O’Sullivan if he returns after missing the 2025 tournament. ‘The Rocket’ is a record eight-time Master champion. He last won the title in 2024, coming back from 6-3 down against Ali Carter to secure a memorable 10-7 victory in the 50th final of the event.

🚊🚗 Travel tips: The nearest overground railway station is Alexandra Palace situated at the Wood Green entrance to the park. The station is on the Great Northern line. There is a service from Moorgate and King’s Cross. The nearest tube station is Wood Green on the Piccadilly line. This has a journey time of 20 minutes from Piccadilly Circus. Exit the station and go to bus stop A to pick the up the W3 bus to Alexandra Palace. The W3 bus runs from Finsbury Park and Tottenham directly to the venue. If driving, the East Court car park is open most days. There are 1,200 parking spaces available. A car parking charge system is in operation. There are bicycle racks in the East Court car park.
