BT Cup Finals Day 2017

Scotland’s leading clubs converge on Murrayfield Stadium today as BT Cup Finals Day returns to the home of Scottish Rugby.  Stand by for an action-packed day showcasing some of Scotland’s best talent from the men’s and women’s domestic game.  Matches start at 11am and tickets are available.

BT Cup Finals Day is the pinnacle of the club rugby season and is a memorable day out at Murrayfield that has served up some classic encounters over the years.  12 teams take centre stage and contend for the end of season glory across 6 finals starting at 11am.

This year there are several mouth-watering clashes to look forward to as well as an opportunity to see many Scotland Club XV and Scotland Women players in action.  Murrayfield Wanderers and Hillhead Jordanhill meet again in the Sarah Beaney Cup Final at 3.30pm, a repeat of last year’s final that Murrayfield won 30-10.  Hillhead not only have that score to settle, they also come into the match licking their wounds having lost out in the sides winner-takes-all league showdown in January, a result that secured Murrayfield Wanderers the BT Women’s Premier League title on the final day of the season.

The BT Cup Final at 3.30pm sees a repeat of last weekend’s BT Premiership final, a match in which Ayr just held on eventually prevailing 12-8 with Melrose hammering at their defence for what would have been a winning try to no avail as the final whistle went.  The men from Greenyards will be desperate to reverse their fortunes today, with a further incentive that they were beaten 21-13 by Heriot’s in last year’s final at Murrayfield.  For their part Ayr will be aiming to complete a memorable double by taking a second trophy back to the west coast in the space of 8 days.

It’s a day that represents the pinnacle of the club rugby season and one not to be missed.  Stand by for some intense action as all 12 teams aim to get their hands on just 6 pieces of silverware!
