Jets Open

The Jets Open is set for a special Queen’s Baton Relay visit this afternoon as a celebration of Scottish beach volleyball continues in Edinburgh.  Action from 9am, spectating is free.

Portobello Beach is the place to be this weekend as the sport of beach volleyball celebrates its inclusion in the Commonwealth Games for the first time on the Gold Coast in 2018.

Today at the Jets Open features action from the Men’s European Beach Volleyball Championships together with a visit from the Queen’s Baton Relay between 1pm-3pm.  Stand by for lights, camera, action … with TV crews, reporters and celebs in attendance spectators on the beach will have the best view in town.  In addition the Scottish Beach Volleyball National Tour Finals will feature their recreational events today with the 2v2 National Tour taking place on Sunday.

In the European event all eyes will be on Scotland’s Senior Men, Seain Cook and Robin Miedzybrodzki, as they compete in the European event with world ranking points available.  Cook and Miedzybrodzki are on a mission to collect as many points as possible to contribute to their world ranking as they attempt to qualify for next year’s Commonwealth Games.

Refreshments, food and music will accompany the beach volleyball at the Jets Open making it a great day out for all the family!

Matches start at 9am.

Admission is free to all spectators.
