League 1 play-off final. Queen’s Park and Clyde lock horns at Hampden Park this afternoon to decide which team will secure promotion to League 1 for next season.
Queen’s Park will fancy their chances of promotion having taken the scalp of League 1 Cowdenbeath in the semi-finals, a 2-0 home win giving them a sufficient buffer that a 1-0 loss in Fife was enough to see the Spiders progress through to the final. Their opponents in the final, Clyde, came through their semi-final with a 5-1 aggregate win over Elgin City, meaning it’s all to play between the teams who finished League 2 separate by just one point after 36 games.
The sides met at Broadwood Stadium in the first leg on Tuesday night, and depending on the outcome of that result it could be one of the sides is defending a precious lead this afternoon (update: result from Tuesday was Clyde 1-3 Queen’s Park). The league form in 2015/2016 gives Queen’s Park a psychological advantage, the Spiders having won 3 and drawn 1 of the four encounters between the sides.
Kick-off is at 3pm.
