2015 World Gymnastics Championships

The Men’s All-Around Final is the centrepiece of tonight’s action on Day 8 of the 2015 World Gymnastics Championships.

The crowds have enjoyed some enthralling action so far at The SSE Hydro where over 590 gymnasts from almost 90 countries have been twisting, turning and vaulting in search of championship glory.  The first time in 112 years the World Championships has been hosted in Scotland, the event is a unique opportunity to watch the finest artistic gymnasts from around the globe competing in Glasgow.

Tonight will decide the men’s all-around winner and all eyes will be on Japan’s Kohei Uchimura.  A near mythical figure, Uchimura is a sporting wonder who has five Olympic medals to his name along with five consecutive world titles in the men’s all-around event.  Tonight he goes for an astonishing sixth consecutive world title and should he achieve it Uchimura’s legacy as greatest male gymnast in history will surely be cemented.

What promises to be an exhilarating evening of gymnastics includes plenty of home interest with Team GB’s Max Whitlock, (double London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist and a silver medallist in last year’s all-around world final) joining Scotland’s Daniel Purvis (who scored a gold and bronze medal competing for Scotland at last year’s Commonwealth Games) both competing in the final.  Purvis finished third in qualifying and along with Whitlock has a great chance of being on the podium at the end of the evening.  This is the full list of 24 competitors in action.

Doors open this evening at 4.40pm with the action commencing at 5.10pm.

Tickets in advance are available online via the ‘Get Tickets’ link.

Ticket availability at the box office on the night is subject to availability.  Checking the World Gymnastics Championships website before travelling is recommended.
