Scottish Senior Championships

Aberdeen Sports Village is the venue for two days of action that will see almost 300 senior athletes in action, including a host of Scottish internationals who took part in Glasgow 2014.

Commonwealth Games athletes include defending champions like Emily Dudgeon (800m), Sarah Warnock (long jump), Rachael Mackenzie (high jump), throwers Angus McInroy, Kirsty Yates, Kirsty Law and Susan McKelvie, as well as others who competed at Hampden like Zoey Clark, Grant Plenderleith, Jake Wightman, Rachel Hunter, Myra Perkins, David Smith and Chris Bennett.  The fields will also include Delhi 2010 Scotland internationals and GB U20 internationals.

And Great Britain cross country international Andrew Butchart (pictured) shoots for the first Scottish track title of his career this weekend, chasing gold in not one but two events.  Butchart, who won his first Scottish National XC in the mud of Falkirk in February, will attempt a stamina-sapping 1500m and 5000m double at Aberdeen Sports Village.  Watch out for him in the 1500m heats at 3.10pm today.

The action starts at 12.45pm with the men’s javelin and continues through until approximately 4pm with the semi-finals of the men’s 800m.  The men’s and women’s 100m finals are at 3.30pm and 3.35pm respectively.

Tickets on the gate: Adults £3/Under 16s free.
