Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix

Müller Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix

All roads lead to the Emirates Arena this afternoon for the Müller Indoor Grand Prix Glasgow featuring a host of British and international stars.  Action starts at 12 noon and tickets are available.

Ranked as the best indoor athletics meeting in the world, the Müller Indoor Grand Prix Glasgow returns this afternoon.  And with the 2018 IAAF Indoor World Championships just days away some of the best athletes in the world will compete at the Emirates Arena, offering the British public to opportunity to see the world’s best track and field athletes on show in an intimate indoor setting.

Last year’s edition held in Birmingham (as the meeting continues to alternate in location through to 2019) saw Laura Muir and Sir Mo Farah claim popular victories as the pair blitzed to British records over 1000m and 5000m respectively, while Elaine Thompson (who is back this year) produced sprint magic with a time of 6.98 over 60m to take maximum IAAF World Indoor Tour points.

This year the aforementioned Elaine Thompson – a double Olympic champion – will start as favourite in the women’s 60m but don’t rule out double world silver medallist Marie-Josée Ta Lou who is also taking part in Glasgow, not to mention the fastest British women ever over 100m and 200m, Dina Asher-Smith.  And as if that isn’t enough a certain Daphne Schippers, who retained her world title over the 200m last summer, is also in the mix.

In the men’s 60m Adam Gemili, CJ Ujah and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake  – three quarters of Britain’s reigning 4x100m world champion team – will be in contention.  They’ll be joined by Chinese sprint star SU Bingtian who is the latest star international name to be added to the men’s 60m field.  Meanwhile in the men’s long jump Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth champion Greg Rutherford will star.

Two para athletics races – the T44/64 and T35/37/38 60m – will also feature this afternoon with no less than three reigning world medallists taking to the track.  Sprinters Maria Lyle, Sophie Hahn and Olivia Breen – who all picked up silverware at last summer’s World Para Athletics Championships – will take centre stage when the T35/37/38 60m takes place.

With the IAAF World Indoor Championships taking place just one week after Glasgow at Birmingham’s Arena Birmingham, the Müller Indoor Grand Prix will serve as the final preparation for the best athletes from Britain and across the world before they bid for global glory.  Purchase your ticket now to experience all the action in the flesh!
