2024 RESULTS

CONGRATULATIONS to all the athletes who put on a great show as Capital Karts in the Docklands hosted the latest edition of Podium Underground.

In the women’s final GB star Erin Wallace took home the £1,000 first prize, closely followed by Holly Dixon.  The full one, two, three was completed by Megan Davies.  Dixon and Davies received £500 and £250 respectively.

In the men’s final, Tyler Bilyard reigned supreme in the chase for the finish line and ÂŁ1,000 first prize, holding off the challenge of Morgan McDonald .  The podium was completed by Solomon Okrafo in third place.

PODIUM UNDERGROUND – 2024 EVENT PREVIEW

A halcyon year of athletics continues as the Podium 5k team bring their unique underground racing event back to Canary Wharf on Friday 6 September (see below for highlights of last year’s event).

Taking place at Capital Karts, the UK’s fastest indoor go-karting track, over 100 athletes will race at Podium Underground 3.

A total prize pot of ÂŁ10,000 is at stake.  The men’s and women’s events each have a prize fund of ÂŁ5,000, with the individual champions receiving ÂŁ1,000 each. 

Starting at 6.30pm, racing takes place over 4 laps of the track (3000m per race) with four heats in the men’s event followed by two men’s and two women’s semi-finals.  The event reaches a crescendo at 8.45pm with the women’s final followed by the men’s final at 9.15pm and presentations at 9.30pm.

Among the athletes confirmed so far are inaugural women’s Podium Underground champion Megan Davies (5k PB, 15:34), 800m & 1500m GB star Erin Wallace (800m PB 1:59.19), Top Flight Battersea winner  Jonathan Escalante-Phillips (5k PB 13:53) and Australian Olympian Morgan McDonald (5000m PB 13:07).

The action will be fast and furious with no less than 10 races over three hours.  All to a backdrop of music pumping and with refreshments available from a bar on site.

Who will be crowned the Podium Underground 3 champions?  All roads lead to Capital Karts to find out!

🚊 🚗 Travel tips: Capital Karts is a 1-minute walk from Canary Wharf DLR station and a 5-minute walk from Canary Wharf stations on the Jubilee Line (tube) and Crossrail.  The entrance is located in Cabot Place shopping centre (lift behind Brera on ground level.  See this ‘Getting Here‘ guide for the venue for more information and and plan your journey using the Transport for London website.
