World-class athletics returns to Glasgow as some of the biggest names in the sport appear in the first major event of the indoor season, the Sainsbury’s Glasgow International Match, just over six months on from the Commonwealth Games held in the city.

Scottish fans are in for a treat with nine representatives from the Team Scotland who appeared at Glasgow 2014 already confirmed as competing in this four-nation match against GB and NI, France and Germany.

In the men’s team these include Guy Learmonth, who took victory over 600m in this event in 2014, competing this year in the 800m the event where he came sixth in the Commonwealth Games final at Hampden in a field including Olympic champion David Rudisha and Botswana’s gold medallist Nijel Amos.  Learmouth races today at 2.30pm.  Meanwhile in the 400m Edinburgh’s Jamie Bowie, the second fastest Scot ever over the distance indoors, returns to the Emirates Arena looking to improve upon his third place in the 2014 Match.  Start time for the men’s 400m is at 1.45pm.

In the women’s team Kirsten McAslan, Diane Ramsay and Zoey Clark are reunited for Scotland in the 4 x 400m relay final at 3.40pm, where they’ll be hoping their experiences at Glasgow 2014 will propel them into medal contention.  Meanwhile at 3pm in the Long Jump final look out for Edinburgh’s Sarah Warnock, and up-and-coming star in the event.

The Match gets underway at 1pm with an Opening Show followed by three hours of action coming thick and fast, including over 15 finals.
