TOOTING BMC – 2025 PREVIEW
The athletics summer season continues with a stellar line-up, including 2022 men’s 1500m world champion Jake Wightman, set to compete at the Tooting BMC on on Wednesday 20 August. Spectating is free!
Hosted by Herne Hill Harriers, the Tooting BMC has built a reputation for hosting one of the most competitive events in the UK athletics calendar since it first took place in 2022. This year’s edition at Tooting Bec Athletics Track in south London promises to be one of the best yet.
The MarketAxess sponsored British Milers Club (BMC) fixture – nicknamed the ‘Record Breaker Meet’ – is set to showcase an array of elite middle-distance stars. Olympians, internationals and some of the country’s best 800m, 1500m and 5000m runners are all in action. The finale is a men’s 3000m steeplechase race featuring athletes targeting the qualifying time for the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo this September.
RACES TIMES AND START LISTS
Racing gets underway at 6.25pm and will continue until around 9.40pm (full timetable and start lists here). Several winners from the UK trials will be competing. Among them women’s 1500m champion Sarah Calvert who races in the women’s 800m. A host of other top British and overseas athletes are taking part. These include the likes of Nick Griggs, Isabelle Boffey, Georgie Grgec, Adam Fogg and India Weir.
Among the race highlights is the women’s 800m A race at 7.05pm. Erin Wallace and Sarah Healy from the M11 Track Club are both in action. They will face-off against in-form Isabelle Boffey and Olivia Baker from the US.
Then at 7.10pm all eyes will be on the men’s 800m A race. This will feature a eagerly anticipated showdown between 2023 world 800m bronze medallist Ben Pattison and world 1500m world champion from 2022 Jake Wightman.

MISSION SUB-8:15
The races come thick and fast until the men’s 3000m steeplechase at 9.30pm which will close the show. It’s been set up especially and will feature a select group of athletes targeting the qualifying time for the next month’s World Athletics Championships. Australia’s Ben Buckingham, Jacob Boutera from Norway and GB standout Phil Norman are among the men targeting ‘Mission sub-8:15.00’.
Expect BMC records to be smashed and personal best times to be set on a mouthwatering evening of athletics not to be missed in the capital!
