In 2019 MLB held its first regular-season games in Europe when the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox met at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Now the iconic London Stadium will once again be transformed into a 60,000-seater ballpark as two of the biggest teams in baseball, New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, meet for a double-header showdown across the weekend of Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June.
St Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs could not be separated after their two-match showdown at London Stadium in 2023. Game one went to the Cubs courtesy of a 9-1 scoreline. The Cardinals struck back in Game Two claiming a 7-5 victory. A total of 110,000 fans enjoyed the action.
2024 LONDON SERIES
The stage is set for a summer showdown when New York Mets meet the Philadelphia Phillies. The 2024 London Series is part of the MLB World Tour, which as from 2023 sees regular-season and exhibition games played in Asia, Mexico, Latin America and Europe through to the 2026 season.
Chicago Cubs pitcher, Marcus Stroman, summed up the appeal of the London Series ahead of the 2023 double-header when he said: “Sick. Unreal. Honestly, London is on my bucket list.
“Obviously, I travel a ton. But playing baseball, I’m not necessarily wanting to go to in November or the wintertime, so I’m glad we get to get there in the summer. I’ve had a lot of friends who go to London all the time, and they have nothing but great things to say. Expanding the game to greater regions, that’s great for MLB.”

🚊🚗 Travel tips: Public transport is recommended. Three stations are withing walking distance of London Stadium. Stratford is on the Central & Jubilee lines, Docklands Light Railway (DLR). Also London Overground and National Rail services operated by Greater Anglia and C2C. Stratford International station is on the Docklands Light Railway and Southeastern High Speed 1 services. both are a 10/15 minute walk to the stadium. Hackney Wick station is approximately a 15 minute walk to the stadium. It’s on the London Overground. By bus the 388, 339 and D9 services stop close to the stadium.
