2025 PREVIEW
Crystal Palace National Sports Centre is the place to be on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 November when the famous venue is transformed into a unique beach volleyball arena. 20 of the world’s best men’s and women’s teams will compete for the crowns of London in an atmosphere filled with lights, music and non-stop excitement. Queen & King of the Court London tickets are on sale now.
This event includes a remarkable twist… the Crystal Palace court will be built using the original sand from the 2012 Olympic Games. The same sand that once hosted the world’s greatest beach volleyball players at Horse Guards Parade, including Olympic champion and now Queen & King of the Court reporter Julius Brink, will return indoors to set the stage for a new chapter. It forms a powerful link between London’s Olympic legacy and the future of the sport, with this the most prestigious and spectacular international beach volleyball event in the capital since 2012.

LINE-UP
A world-class line-up will feature 10 female and 10 male teams. The tournament has a high-octane knockout format to bring out the players’ very best skills.
Among the teams in the men’s field will be twins Javier and Joaquin Bello, who recently made history as the first English beach volleyball team ever to compete at a World Championship. French duo Calvin Aye and Teo Rotar are a team to watch closely. Both players, albeit with different partners, have enjoyed an exceptional season, earning multiple podium finishes on the Elite16 tour.
The women’s field also features a wealth of players fresh from last week’s World Championships and already proven at the highest level. Among them is Australian Olympic medallist Taliqua Clancy, who is now passing on her experience to her talented young teammate Stefanie Fejes. Dutch star Katja Stam returns to international form after a long battle with injuries. Meanwhile home favourites Keetie Kefie and Kirsten Star are eager to make their mark in front of a London crowd.
COMPETITION FORMAT
Originally a popular training format, QKOTC has developed into an official new beach volleyball competition. The court is divided into a winning and challenging side, with points only scored on the queen/king side. Instead of two teams, five duos play simultaneously in an elimination game. A break between rallies of just eight seconds ensures a fast and action-packed experience.
The Queen & King of the Court format is a race against the clock featuring fast rallies, constant action and no time to relax. With the London crowd behind their local heroes, and international stars in the mix, the atmosphere will push the energy through the roof.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT
Queen & King of the Court is about more than sport alone. Crystal Palace will come alive with an atmosphere that mixes competition and entertainment. With music, lights, food and drinks and surprises throughout the weekend, there’s always something happening. Queen & King of the Court London is more than just matches on the sand. It’s an experience where sport and entertainment come together.
QUOTES
Wilco Nijland, CEO and founder of Sportworx, the driving force behind Queen & King of the Court, said on the announcement: “London is one of the greatest cities in the world, with huge potential for any sports event. Last year, at the showcase test event, we saw the strong demand for major live sports. Great crowds that came out and, after that success, we’re proud to return with an official Crown Series event. Since the 2012 Olympics there hasn’t been a big international beach volleyball event in London. Bring back the sport on the Olympic sand is a beautiful new start.”
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan believes the event is a huge boost for the city. “I am delighted we are hosting the Queen & King of the Court next month, featuring some of the world’s top beach volleyball players. This will be one of the biggest international beach volleyball competitions in our city since London 2012, so it is fitting that the court will be built using the original sand from those Olympic Games.
“Crystal Palace National Sports Centre is undergoing a once-in-a-generation redevelopment with significant investment from City Hall. It will provide a great backdrop for this event as we build a better, healthier London for everyone.”
