Day 1 of the Blair Castle Equi-Trek International Horse Trials. Taking place in the spectacular surroundings of Blair Castle the next four days are a great opportunity to watch the sport of eventing at its best. Tickets are available with a discount for advance purchases.
The Highlands of Scotland are the focus of international equestrian action this week as some of the biggest names in the sport battle for the spoils. Alongside the competition Blair Castle will also be home to over 200 trade stands with avenues of quality shops, from bespoke jewellery and fine art to boutique clothing, traditional tartan and even gourmet dog treats, offering shopping opportunities for all tastes. And Blair will also offer its usual array of Scottish hospitality each evening; charity whisky tasting, a ceilidh, live band and disco as well as the onsite bar where friends can meet up to discuss the day’s events
Today’s equestrian action features Arena Eventing and International Dressage, together with a Hunter show and Highland pony show. Highland ponies, a favourite with Her Majesty The Queen, are an integral part of life in the area, and these classes are well worth watching. This is the daily timetable in full
One thing can be guaranteed: four days of high quality, competitive sport in one of the most breathtakingly beautiful settings in the British Isles. With the range of other equestrian disciplines, a fabulous food hall and shopping comprising over 200 stands, all looks set for a fabulous week.
Eventing is a test of all-round ability for horse and rider, often likened to an ‘equine triathlon’. It’s a supreme test of the partnership between the two consisting of dressage, show jumping and cross country stages. A guide to the sport can be viewed via the Blair Castle Equi-Trek International Horse Trials website.
Gates open at 8am with the action from 8.30am through until 5pm.
Tickets in advance are available via the ‘Get Tickets’ link. Advance ticket purchases are subject to a discount.
Admission on the day is available. These are the daily ticket and parking prices on the gate.
