Rumours are rife and talks are ongoing. The biggest fight of 2025 on UK shores may just be heading to Wembley Stadium this summer. Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk clashed for the first time in 2023. Usyk was victorious. But Dubois is a different proposition in 2025 and desperate for revenge. With all the major world heavyweight belts on the line, fireworks are guaranteed should the two men collide under the famous arch. Saturday 12 July could be a boxing date with destiny. Stay tuned for Dubois v Usyk tickets news!
INTRODUCING THE BOXERS
“Are you not entertained?!” shouted Daniel Dubois to over 90,000 fans at Wembley last September. The fighter from Greenwich had just knocked out Anthony Joshua in devastating style in the fifth round of their all-British world heavyweight title showdown
27-year-old Dubois is the IBF heavyweight champion. Usyk, from Ukraine, is the WBA (Super), WBO and WBC belt holder after back-to-back masterclass performances against Tyson Fury in 2024. He subsequently had to vacate the IBF belt that Dubois now holds.
When Dubois first met Usyk in Poland in August 2023, the Ukrainian retained his world title with a ninth-round stoppage. But not before controversy over a punch landed by Dubois in the fifth round. Usyk was dropped and took time to recover after the punch was ruled as a low blow. Many observers thought it was a legal strike.
Undefeated in 23 fights, Usyk is closing in on retirement. He’s already been crowned undisputed champion at cruiserweight and heavyweight during an illustrious career. Should he agree terms with Dubois, Usyk will have a chance to become the undisputed heavyweight champion once again before riding off into the sunset and assured of his place in the boxing ‘Hall of Fame’.
No British fighter has held the undisputed heavyweight title in the four-belt era. The last Briton to be undisputed heavyweight champion was Lennox Lewis in 1999. Will Dubois get the opportunity to make his mark in boxing history? Stay tuned to find out!
