FightZone TV Presents: Hannah Rankin v Maria Lindberg

🥊 Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the place to be tonight as Hannah Rankin takes on Maria Lindberg in a double world title fight on a big night of women’s boxing hosted by FightZone TV.  For ticket enquiries see below.

In June 2019 Hannah Rankin made history by becoming the first female Scottish boxer to become a world champion, defeating the American Sarah French to claim the IBO super-welterweight title.

Having lost the title on points against the undefeated Patricia Berghult in November 2019, two years on the stage is set – in the Banqueting Hall at the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – for Rankin to become a two-time world champion with the IBO belt up for grabs along with the WBA super-welterweight crown.

Rankin, from Luss in Scotland, has some serious boxing pedigree.  Not only has she held the IBO world title Rankin has also shared the ring with some of the world’s best fighters, including double Olympic gold medallist Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall, the only boxer to have defeated Shields.

Standing in Rankin’s way tonight is Maria Lindberg, a seasoned campaigner who has fought for multiple world titles and who was previously the IBF super-welterweight champion.  The Swede, now in the autumn of her career, will not lack for motivation as she eyes what could be her last opportunity for global honours.

Speaking to SportonSpec in the lead up to the fight, Rankin commented: “I’m not underestimating the challenge posed by Maria Lindberg.  She is a very experienced and has been in against many top fighters.  It should be a great match-up as I’m never in a dull fight – my sole goal is to have my hands raised at the end of the night.”

And on topping the bill in the capital, Rankin said: “I moved down to London ten years ago to study.  It’s a place I now regard as a second home, so it would be fitting to make more boxing history by becoming a two-time world champion here in London.”

A packed undercard features some rising stars in the world of women’s boxing including Norfolk’s Stevi Levy and Wolverhampton’s Katie Healy, who are both unbeaten.  Also on the bill are two debutants – super-welterweight Dee Allen (part of Team Rankin and like Hannah Rankin trained by Noel Callan), and Glasgow’s Lily Ella.

Chief support is a men’s super-featherweight showdown between Manchester’s Michael Gomez Jnr and Sufyaan Ahmed from Sheffield.

The show is the latest by new promotional outfit FightZone TV and will also be shown live on their website at Fightzone.uk.

🥊 Show starts at 6pm tbc.

🎟️ Tickets are priced at £75 for seat-only.  There is also a full dinner show option, including a three-course meal, starting from £200 per person.  Contact Team Rankin via teamrankinboxer@gmail.com for booking enquiries.  You can also message them via @Team_Rankin on Instagram and Twitter.
