Stand by for four days of world-class racing at this year’s British Swimming Championships that also include the Edinburgh International Swim Meet. The cream of Britain’s swimmers are due in the Scottish capital for a competition that for many features the final racing before heading out to the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Commonwealth Games.
The championships see the best of British Swimming in action against athletes from across Europe including the German national team at Edinburgh’s Royal Commonwealth Pool. Over 500 competitors have travelled from all corners of the UK to compete and as well as the 32 British titles up for contention, many athletes will be looking to hone their race skills and test their arena processes ahead of April’s Commonwealth Games.
The next four days represent the final opportunity for fans to see many of Britain’s best including Olympic and World Champion Adam Peaty, World Champion James Guy and Olympic medallist Siobhan-Marie O’Connor in action before they travel to the Gold Coast.
The meet will also see a strong contingent of top class talent from event partner, The University of Edinburgh, including double Olympian Lizzie Simmonds, multiple Welsh record holder Kathryn Greenslade and Scottish Champions Lucy Hope and Corrie Scott. They will race against Spain’s Olympic champion Mireia Belmonte and a strong German team including Olympian’s Lisa Graf, Christian Diener and Damian Wierling. Junior swimmers from across Great Britain will also be vying for selection to this summer’s European Junior Championships in Helsinki.
Today’s morning session consists of heats starting from 8.45am with an afternoon session from 12.30pm and finals starting at 5pm. Scroll down on this ticket page to see a list of the races taking place during each session.
