Celtic FC Women welcome Spartans to K-Park for a SWPL1 encounter between the teams who are in fifth and third place respectively in the league. Kick-off is 2pm with admission on the gate.
Celtic FC Women started the season with high hopes of of making a challenge for the SWPL1 title having assembled arguably their strongest squad ever. However despite Celtic head coach David Haley being busy in the close season signing Sarah Crilly from their Glasgow rivals, as well as Sarah Ewens from Hibernian Ladies and defender Kelsey Hodges from the USA, it hasn’t quite happened for the Celtic so far during their 2017 league campaign. And things didn’t get any better for Celtic in the Scottish Cup last weekend losing 5-0 to Hibernian.
Today’s opponents Spartans are currently in third in the SWPL1 (the position that Celtic finished in last season) on 21 poins with a four-point advantage over their hosts this afternoon. Expect a tense encounter as Celtic look to get their season back on track with a win that will see them close the gap on Spartans and Stirling University, the latter also on 21 points albeit having played two more games than both Celtic and Spartans.
Kick-off is at 2pm.
Admission on the gate priced: Adults £5/Concessions £3/Under 16s free.
