It’s official. The 2025 FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships are heading to London! Taking place between Wednesday 11 to Sunday 15 June, the event is open to teams from all over the world. FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships tickets are on sale now.
Former world champions Vishy Anand and Vladimir Kramnik are among the chess stars set to duke it out. Joining them will be the current world number two, Hikaru Nakamura.
The championship consists of two events. Rapid, played from 11-13 June. Blitz, played from 14-15 June. The cumulative prize fund for the championship is €500,000. Of this sum €310,000 is for the Rapid tournament and €190,000 for the Blitz tournament.
The championships have a mixed-team format and fast time controls make this a thrilling highlight on the calendar for both players and spectators. With teams from every corner of the globe confirmed, this year’s event has attracted nearly 60 teams. With average team ratings ranging from 1747 to 2695, the tournament truly represents the global chess community – uniting elite super grandmasters, rising stars, and ambitious amateurs.
