🧗‍♀️🧗‍♂️ Canary Wharf is the place to be for the North Face Climb Festival and a two-day extravaganza of action featuring the best climbers in the world.

EVENT PREVIEW

Taking place at Harbour Quay Gardens & South Dock on Friday 12 July and Saturday 13 July the centrepiece of the North Face Climb Festival in London is a head-to-head competition between the world’s best climbers who will complete on a 16-metre-high climbing wall located over deep water.  Competition format below.

Alongside the elite action the festival will feature climbing workshops from professional athletes, including The North Face climbers Caroline Ciavaldini, James Pearson and Solenne Piret.  There will also be inspirational talks from big wall climbers, a clothing repair space, an immersive retail experience and a live dyno competition.  DJ sets from some of the capitals brightest young artists, including Ross From Friends, Laurence Guy, NiNE8 Collective, Anu and JJESS will shape the sounds of the weekend.  Full festival event schedule below.

Climbing takes centre stage as up to 150 athletes compete for just 60 places in Saturday’s finals.

10:30am: Doors open

1pm-2pm: Embrace the Challenge Talk with Solenne Piret
2pm-4pm: COMPETITION QUALIFYING ROUND 2
2.30pm-3.30pm: Big Wall Talk with Siebe Vanhee
4-4.45pm: Film Screening – “The Traditionalist” with Jacopo Larcher
4.30pm-5.30pm: Climb with The North Face athlete Nina Williams
4.30pm-6pm: COMPETITION QUALIFYING ROUND 3
5pm-5.45pm: Route setting: Art or Science?  Workshop with Lainy and Bouldering Bobat
5.45pm-6.45pm: Climb with The North Face athlete Solenne Piret
6pm-6.45pm: DJ Set – Anu
7pm-8pm: Dyno Competition
8pm-9pm: Headliner Set – Nine8 Collective

🕙 Day 2 schedule – Saturday 13 July

Saturday sees the competition heat up with the top 60 competitors putting it all on the line for the win.

3.30pm-4.45pm: FINALS ROUND 1
4.45pm-5.15pm: The Importance of a Climbing Community  
4.45pm-5.15pm: Climb with The North Face athlete Caro Ciavaldini
5-5.45pm: DJ Set – JJESS
5.45pm-7pm: FINALS ROUND 2
7pm-7.45pm: DJ set – Laurence Guy
7.45pm-8pm: Competition Awards Ceremony + Athlete Gear Raffle Winner Announcment

FORMAT OF COMPETITION 

There are 3 rounds ahead of the finals:-

1. Qualifying Round. 150 climbers.  Each Climber gets 1 chance to climb the wall.  Fastest time or highest climb will be recorded.  Top 30 fastest times for men and women move on to the next round.

2. Seeding.  60 climbers.  Each Climber will get 1 chance to climb the wall.  Top 16 fastest times for men and women will move on to the next round.

3. Semi Finals.  32 climbers (16 men and 16 women) compete for top time or height competition ending in a head-to-head competition.  16 Men and 16 Women compete for top 4 slots per gender.

Finals.    Fastest time per men and women will compete for top 2 times or height.  The 3rd fastest time or height in this heat wins 3rd place.  Top 2 times compete head to head for 1st and 2nd place.
