2025 EVENT PREVIEW
London’s number one cycling festival returns to its iconic King’s Cross, Coal Drops Yard home this month. The londoncyclefestival is a three-day weekend packed full of riding, racing, parties, activations, live music and much more. At the heart of the action on Saturday 21 June is a Brompton racing showcase, followed by some electrifying elite-level VIA Criterium action.
BROMPTON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Seeing is believing as the iconic Brompton World Champs takes centre stage on Saturday afternoon. Hundreds of fiercely committed Brompton riders from around the globe will battle it out on the one-of-a-kind criterium circuit. 10 heats of 50 riders around a 900m urban track. The 50 fastest from the heats will then compete in their respective finals from 4.30pm. By 5.45pm the women’s and men’s winner of the London Brompton World Championships 2025 will be decided.
VIA CRITERIUM
As afternoon turns to the evening, attention turns to the VIA Criterium. With no gears or brakes, the fixed-wheel racing takes cycling to a whole new level, providing a thrilling spectacle to entertain the crowd.
Critierium (aka Crit) racing is a bike race consisting of multiple laps of a closed circuit. The VIA Criterium circuit is around 900 metres a lap. It’s renowned for its multiple chicanes and high speeds achievable along the 200m VIA straight. Each lap takes approximately one minute and ends with the main feature, a wooden constructed ramp where the riders descent into Coal Drops Yard and the ‘natural amphitheatre’ where the start and finish of the race is located (lap map below).
The Crit action starts with women’s and men’s Cat 3 and 4 action from 5.45pm. Then from 7.45pm the Men’s and Women’s Elite VIA Criterium races will take centre stage for what is sure to be a nail-biting evening of fast and furious circuit racing (full schedule below). The world’s fastest semi-pro riders will duke it out.
Following the racing live music will keep the party vibe going, with renowned DJ, MJ Cole, among those spinning some tunes.
