A treat for racquet sport fans. Some of the best players in the world are at Edinburgh Sports Club for the 2019 European Squash Club Championships. Admission is free on Wednesday and Thursday with tickets for Friday and Saturday available on 0131 332 0088.
Taking place 18-21 September this week’s tournament will feature 19 teams, 10 countries and some of the top squash players on the planet.
It’s the first time in the events 32-year history that Europe’s marquee club tournament has been held in Scotland. And the home nation is well represented with two clubs competing – ESC and Newlands LTC. – at the event at Edinburgh Sports Club.
Among the stars taking part in this year’s European Squash Club Championships are Scotland’s number one players Greg Lobban and Lisa Aitken as well as world top ten stars Simon Rösner (WR5) and Paul Coll (WR6) and England’s Millie Tomlinson (WR22).

The hosts will be led by Rory Stewart and Georgia Adderley, both coming into the tournament in fine form with Georgia having recently been competing in Australia on the PSA Tour.
Rory reached the semi-finals of the Russian Open last month off the back of winning his maiden PSA title at the Mar del Plata Open, Argentina during a month long stint in South America.
Newlands go into the event as Scottish club champions and youngster Fraser McCann is relishing the prospect of competing for his home club in such a huge tournament.
The 19-year-old said: “It’s always a privilege to represent Newlands, a club which has done so much for me since I was a young boy.
“I’ve never played this event before and it will be great to be part of it.
“There’s some world class players competing and it will be interesting to see if I can hold my own against some very good players.
“I’m feeling good and really looking forward to it.”

Wednesday and Thursday’s action features the opening rounds.
Admission is free to be members and non members on the first two days.
Friday and Saturday are semi-finals and finals day respectively.
