Alloa Athletic v Brechin City

Championship play-off final, second leg.  It’s already set in stone that a second team from League One will gain promotion to the Championship but the question is … will it be Alloa Athletic or Brechin City?  Kick-off is at 5.15pm with admission on the turnstiles.

Neither of the two clubs made life easy for themselves in the play-off semi-finals, both needing penalties to get to this stage.  After losing 1-0 to Airdrieonians in the first leg, a Jon Robertson goal in the second leg sent the tie into penalties and it was Alloa Athletic’s goalkeeper Neil Parry who was the hero after saving two spot kicks.

Brechin City had the difficult task of overcoming Championship side Raith Rovers in their play-off.  The first leg finished in a 1-1 stalemate but it was the Championship side who needed a Declan McManus goal in stoppage time to take the second leg into extra-time.  Both sides notched another goal as the tie went to penalties but it was Graeme Smith, Brechin City’s goalkeeper, who was the hero as he stopped three of Raith’s penalties.

Previous head-to-heads: The second leg of this play-off final will mark the sixth time these two sides have faced-off this season and it doesn’t make for great reading for Brechin City, who won just one of the four meetings ahead of the play-offs.  Alloa on the other hand inflicted 1-0, 2-1 and 6-1 defeats on their opponents over the course of the season.

Kick off is at 5.15pm.

Admission on the day priced at: Adult £16 ~ Senior Citizens (Over 65) £8 ~ Child/Concession (Under 16) £4.
