The top two in League 1 lock horns in an eagerly anticipated top of the table clash at Somerset Park. Ayr United v Raith Rovers is a 3pm kick-off with admission on the gate.
It’s been a tale of two clubs so far this season in League 1 with Ayr United and Raith Rovers setting the pace such that they are 12 and 16 points respectively clear of Alloa Athletic who are in third place. The race is well and truly on for automatic promotion and while Rovers have a four point lead at the top of the table the Honest Men have a game in hand meaning if they can win today they will become marginal favourites to finish top.
It’s set up perfectly for a Saturday afternoon showdown. Can Ayr United cut the gap to Raith Rovers to just one point or will the team from Stark’s Park seize the initiative with an away win? All roads lead to Somerset Park to find out!
Previous head-to-heads: The sides last met in January, Raith Rovers hosting a 1-1 draw. Prior to that in the last meeting at Somerset Park, back in November, it was Ayr United who claimed an impressive 3-0 win.
