⚽️ All football roads lead to Wembley Stadium on Sunday 22 March for the Carabao Cup final. The first major silverware of the season is on the line!
Tickets for the final will be available only from the two finalists. Club members will have priority.
After eight months of knockout action just two teams will remain in contention to lift the trophy on the hallowed turf at Wembley this afternoon. The EFL Cup has taken place since 1961 and is a competition rich in history. Can Newcastle retain the trophy they famously won for the first time in February 2025? Or will a different side be celebrating with their fans at the final whistle?
RECENT WINNERS
Newcastle United are the currently EFL cup holders. Having seen off Arsenal in the semi-finals, the Toon won their first domestic trophy in 70 years defeating Liverpool 2-1 in the final on a memorable day at Wembley. Dan Burn and Alexander Isak were the Newcastle goal scorers. The Reds were the defending champions after their victory against Chelsea in the 2024 final, the 10th time the Anfield side had lifted the trophy.
Manchester United won the trophy in 2023. They beat Newcastle United 2-0 last February to claim their first piece of silverware in six years. Marcus Rashford and Casemiro were the goal scorers for the Red Devils.
In 2022 two more powerhouses of English football went head-to-head in the EFL Cup final. Liverpool and Chelsea locked horns for 120 minutes with neither able to find the net. The Reds ultimately prevailed, winning the penalty shootout 11-10.
Who will triumph this year and lift the first major silverware in 2025? It’s takes two to tango but only one team will have their name engraved on the trophy come the final whistle at Wembley Stadium.
