League One. In-form Charlton Athletic welcome top of the table Luton Town to The Valley for what promises to be an absorbing game of football. Kick-off is at 3pm and tickets are available.
With four wins and a draw from their last five matches Charlton Athletic are the form side in League One and all but certain of a place in the end of season play-offs. However Lee Bowyer’s men are not done yet with a top-four finish still the target for the Addicks (who are currently in fifth place) which will secure a home draw in the play-off semi-finals. And better than that if Charlton can keep winning a top-two finish – and with it automatic promotion – is not out of the question.
Luton Town have led the League One way this season losing only four matches out of 41 played. Top of the table on 87 points – and eight points clear of their nearest rivals Barnsley – the Hatters have been scoring goals for fun and are tantalisingly close to securing automatic promotion and a place in the Championship for next season. But that’s not guaranteed and how Luton would love to take home all three points this afternoon to settle any end of season nerves.
Previous head-to-head: Back in September at Kenilworth Road. A four-goal thriller ending 2-2 after Charlton’s Chris Solly scored a dramatic equaliser in the 95th minute.
One to watch: Charlton’s Josh Cullen who joined the club on loan from West Ham in the summer. Back from recent injury woes Cullen has give the Addicks midfield a real boost on his return.
Kick-off is at 3pm.
