Dunfermline Athletic v Greenock Morton

Dunfermline Athletic welcome high-flying Morton, the Championship’s surprise package this season, to East End Park,  Kick-off is at 3pm with tickets available online and on the gate.

Kallum Higginbotham was unable to help Dunfermline to victory last weekend, missing two penalties in their 1-1 draw with Ayr United.  And that’s not the first time that the Pars have missed more than one penalty in a single league game this season; Dundee United’s Cammy Bell saved three first half penalties as his side beat the Pars 3-1 in the league back in September.  A win for Allan Johnston’s side today could lift them as high as seventh if other results go their way.

Morton have performed above most people’s expectations already this season as they sit in fourth place just two points behind Falkirk in third.  Jim Duffy’s side’s 6-0 demolition of Beith Juniors in the Scottish Cup last Saturday is the Greenock club’s sixth game unbeaten in a row in all competitions and they’ll be hoping that t’s seven games unbeaten come 4:45pm today.

Dunfermline and Morton have been somewhat familiar foes in recent years and it was Morton who came out on top earlier in this campaign as goals from young stars Gary Oliver and Jai Quitongo earned a 2-1 draw for the Cappielow outfit.  If that’s not enough, Morton have won each of the last five meetings between the clubs in all competitions.

It’s sure to be an interesting game at East End Park this afternoon as Morton look to build on their current unbeaten run while the Pars will be looking to put an end to Morton’s run of consecutive victories over them.
