The Lionesses and Spain meet under the lights at the Home of England football on Wednesday 26 February in an eagerly anticipated 2025 UEFA Women’s Nations League clash. Following on from their historic UEFA Women’s EURO Championship triumph at Wembley in July 2022 – when a Chloe Kelly goal in extra time secured a famous 2-1 win against Germany – hopes were high when England met Spain in the final of the Women’s World Cup in August 2023. But it wasn’t to be with Olga Carmona’s first-half strike earned the Spaniards their first world title.
Tonight the sides lock horns in the UEFA Women’s Nations League. Spain are the current champions following their 2-0 victory over France in the inaugural final in February 2024. England and Spain are joined by Belgium and Portugal in League A Group A3.
The League A group winners (four in total) will meet in the semi-finals, which are followed by a third-place play-off and the final. The top two teams in each group will stay in League A for the European qualifiers for for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
