Wembley Stadium is the place to be for the Emirates FA Cup final on Saturday 16 May a famous showpiece event in the footballing calendar.
Tickets for the final will be available only from two finalists. Club members will have priority.
INTRODUCTION
The FA Cup is the first of football’s great competitions and the most watched domestic cup final in the world. With a rich history dating back to 1872 – Wanderers won the very first FA Cup final beating Royal Engineers 1-0 at the Kennington Oval in London – it’s the longest-running competition in the global game of football. A place in sporting history awaits to the winners of the 2026 final on Saturday 16 May.
The knockout road to Wembley – featuring teams from all levels of the game in England and Wales – starts in the summer of 2025 with the qualifying rounds before the Premier League and Championship teams enter the competition in January 2026 at the third round stage. Football’s oldest tournament rarely disappoints and expect another sell-out crowd at the national stadium.
2025 FINAL
Crystal Palace are the current cup holders after they beat Manchester City 1-0 in the 2025 final. For City it was their third successive final. But it wasn’t to be for Pep Guardiola’s side. Eberechi Eze’s 16th-minute strike for Crystal Palace saw the Eagles land the first major trophy in their history.
PREVIOUS FINALS
In 2024, the final was an all-Manchester affair for the second year in succession. And this time it was the red half of Manchester who were celebrating at the final whistle. The Red Devils stunned their City rivals at the national stadium with a 2-1 victory. Goals from Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho gave Manchester United the advantage before Man City substitute Jeremy Doku pulled a goal back with less than five minutes to go. But it wasn’t enough as Erik ten Hag’s side held firm to claim a famous victory.
In 2023 Manchester City beat their rivals United 2-1. Ilkay Gundogan was Man of the Match with two goals. City would go on to beat Inter Milan in the Champions League final to claim a historic 2022/2023 treble.
In 2022 Liverpool beat Chelsea 6-5 in a penalty shootout at Wembley Stadium (Kostas Tsimikas slotting home the winning spot-kick for the Reds) to clinch the trophy for the first time since 2006 when they beat West Ham United, also in a penalty shootout. That followed a historic 2021 final when Leicester City beat Chelsea 1-0 to win the trophy for the first time.
There must be a winner today. If the match finishes all square after normal time there will be extra time. A penalty shootout will determine the winners if the sides are not separated after 120 minutes.
Who will take the famous silverware back with them? All roads lead to Wembley Stadium for the latest chapter of this famous competition to find out!
