FA WOMEN’S SUPER LEAGUE LONDON TEAMS
Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are the FA Women’s Super League London teams who will play in the WSL 2022/2023 season starting on 10 September 2022. It promises to be the best season ever after England’s historic 2-1 victory over Germany in the EURO 2022 final at Wembley Stadium!
England captain Leah Williamson and 2022 Women’s Euros Golden Boot winner Beth Mead (who play for Arsenal) and central defender Millie Bright and striker Fran Kirby (who play for Chelsea) are just some of the Lionesses who will be in action in the capital.
🕒 FA WSL matches in September: Saturday 10 September: Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United KO 12.30pm ~ Sunday 11 September: Chelsea v West Ham United KO 12.30pm ~ Sunday 18 September: Arsenal v Brighton & Hove Albion KO TBC. West Ham United v Everton KO 2pm ~ Sunday 25 September: Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur KO 2pm. Chelsea v Manchester City KO 2pm.
2021/2022 season recap: Chelsea were the 2021/2022 FA Women’s Super League champions becoming the first club in WSL history to win the title three times in a row. The Blues clinched the title on the final day of the season and are now six-time champions having first won the title in 2015.
Arsenal finished in second place just a point behind their rivals from west London to qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United finished in fifth and sixth place respectively.
Manchester City won the first domestic piece of silverware of the season beating Chelsea 3-1 in early March in the final of the Women’s Continental League Cup at Cherry Red Records Stadium. Chelsea got their revenge by beating City 3-2 in Women’s FA Cup final on 15 May at Wembley Stadium, a result that saw the Blues complete a domestic league and cup double.

London City Lionesses, Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace are the three teams representing the capital in the 2022/2023 FA Women’s Championship season which starts in August. The Lionesses play their home matches at Princes Park Stadium in Dartford. Charlton at The Oakwood in Crayford while Crystal Palace are based at Hayes Lane, Bromley.
🕒 FA Championship matches in August and September: Sunday 21 August: London City Lionesses v Crystal Palace KO 12.30pm ~ Sunday 28 August: Crystal Palace v Coventry City KO 2pm. Charlton Athletic v London City Lionesses KO 2pm ~ Sunday 11 September: London City Lionesses v Bristol City KO 2pm ~ Sunday 18 September: Charlton Athletic v Birmingham City KO 2pm. Crystal Palace v Southampton KO 2pm ~ Sunday 25 September: London City Lionesses v Durham KO 2pm.
2021/2022 season recap: Liverpool finished the season as champions (on 52 points) to secure promotion to the Women’s Super League. London City Lionesses lead the way for the London teams, finishing in second place on 41 points. Crystal Palace ended the season on 37 points (in fourth spot) with Charlton Athletic just one place behind them on 34 points.
