Manchester City claimed a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Everton at Etihad Stadium in the Premier League, to remain in second place in the table.

Pep Guardiola’s talisman Erling Haaland scored a brace against the Toffees.  His first goals since November sent the Cityzens into pandemonium.  It was their tenth successive win in all competitions – momentum is truly gathering speed for Guardiola’s side.  With over 70% possession, the result was never in doubt – even if took until the 70th minute to open the scoring.

Update: 17 February.  Manchester City could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea.  A result that saw them slip down to third place on 53 points, 4 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Up next, Manchester City host Brentford on Tuesday 20 February.  Then attention turns to a showdown with their Manchester rivals.  City and United go toe-to-toe at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 3 March.

Ballon d’Or nominee Erling Haaland has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season, and continues to terrorise defences.  Midfielder Rodri has shined in the heart of midfield, while defender Rúben Dias has been rock-solid.
