Scottish Cup Final: Celtic v Aberdeen

SOLD OUT.

Scottish Cup Final.  Hampden Park is the venue for a showdown between a Celtic team who have so far been invincible this season and Premiership rivals Aberdeen.  Kick-off is at 3pm and tickets are sold out.

Celtic have already managed to go an entire league campaign unbeaten finishing above 2nd-placed Aberdeen in the process and the Bhoys have also won the Betfred Cup, once again overcoming Aberdeen in the final.  It has certainly been an incredible season for Brendan Rodgers’ side and lifting the Scottish Cup coupled with a completely unbeaten domestic season would be the cherry on the cake.  Aberdeen too have enjoyed a great season, albeit living in Celtic’s shadow but they will be hoping they can take this final opportunity to overcome their familiar foe.  Not since 1990 have the Dons lifted the cup –  beating today’s opponents 9–8 on penalties after the match had finished 0-0 – and they’ll likely need to play the game of their lives if they are to prevail this afternoon.

Route to the final: Both sides entered the competition in the 4th Round and took little time dispatching their first opponents.  Aberdeen recorded a 4-0 victory at home to Stranraer while Celtic put three past Albion Rovers without reply.  Aberdeen were made to work for their 1-0 win over Ross County in the 5th Round but there was no problem for Celtic who strolled to a 6-0 defeat of Inverness. Another 1-0 victory followed in the quarter-finals for Aberdeen, this time over Partick Thistle while Celtic made things look straightforward once again as they overcame St Mirren 4-1.  Celtic defeat Old Firm rivals Rangers 2-0 in the semis while Aberdeen were on the positive side of a 3-2 victory over Hibs in the other semi.

Kick-off for the Scottish Cup Final is at 3pm.

Tickets: this match is sold out.
