SEASON SO FAR

Spurs will be satisfied after a 2-1 win over Luton Town in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.  They remain fifth in the table.

The visitors made the perfect start after Tahith Chong fired the Hatters ahead after three minutes, silencing the home crowd.  Nevertheless, Ange Postecoglou’s side grew into the game despite not scoring in the opening half at home for the seventh game in a row.  The Lilywhites equalised just after half-time following an Issa Kabore own-goal.  The hosts kept pressing and captain fantastic Son Heung-min fired the hosts ahead, sending the home fans into raptures.  His 15th goal of the season took Son into Spurs’ top-five goalscorers of all-time; a historic day in North London!

Update Sunday 13 April: A 4-0 reverse at Newcastle last weekend saw Spurs remain 6 points behind Aston Villa.  Tottenham have two games in hand and will need to win both if they are to close the gap on Villa who are in fourth place.

Up next on home soil, strap yourselves in!  Spurs meet Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday 28 April.  It’s the biggest North London derby in years.  Tottenham have Champions League qualification on their minds.  Arsenal are gunning for their first title since 2003/2004.  The last time Spurs defeated Arsenal at home was in May 2022 when a Harry Kane brace ensured victory for the hosts.  Super captain Son has 12 returns in 17 games against the Gunners and will be hoping for more success when they face-off at White Hart Lane.  Expect fireworks and tension in this iconic match!

ONES TO WATCH

Fan favourite and current captain Son Heung-Min has replaced previous captain Harry Kane perfectly.  Attacking-midfielder James Maddison started the campaign outstandingly under Postecoglou.  Meanwhile Yves Bissouma dominates in the heart of midfield.
