⚽️ Premier League.  Watford FC welcome Newcastle with the home side in search of a crucial three points as they bid to avoid relegation.  Kick-off is at 3pm.

With just a handful of games remaining in the 2019/2020 Premier League season to go Watford FC’s bid to maintain their status in the top tier of English club football is very much alive; if also precarious.

It wasn’t so long ago that Watford looked doomed to spending next season in the Championship, however the arrival of Nigel Pearson in December has galvanised the side with their recent 3-0 win over champions-elect Liverpool demonstrating anything is possible.

Currently seventeenth in the table on 27 points Watford are just outside the relegation zone courtesy of a better goal difference than Bournemouth’s.  Along with Aston Villa and West Ham and Brighton, it looks like a five-way scrap to avoid joining Norwich in the drop into the Championship come the end of the season.

On 35 points and thirteenth in the table Newcastle United look a good bet to be in the Premier League next season but a win today at Vicarage Road would all but seal the safety deal.

Will Watford FC take the points and climb towards safety or will Newcastle head home with a win under their belts?  All roads lead to Vicarge Road to find out.

Previous meeting between the sides: 31 August 2019.  A 1-1 draw at St James’ Park.

One to watch: Troy Deeney leads from the front for Watford FC and the captain’s experience will be crucial today to calm heads around him in what is sure to be a fevered atmosphere.

⚽️ Kick-off is at 3pm.
