West Ham United were abysmal in their 0-6 home defeat to London rivals Arsenal in the Premier League.  They dropped to eighth in the table following a sobering visit from the Gunners.

There was no repeat of the magic last season where the Hammers came from two-nil down to rescue a 2-2 draw against the Arsenal, putting a stop to their title challenge.  By half-time, David Moyes’ side found themselves 0-4 down, following goals from William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel and Leo Trossard.  The visitors had scored 6 by the 65th minute, with many Hammers fans streaming towards the exits following a truly woeful display.  The only thing to cheer for the home crowd was Declan Rice’s substitution, who left the field to a standing ovation.  A day to forget for all those invested in claret & blue.

Update: 26 February.  West Ham put a three-match losing run in the Premier League behind them with a rousing 4-2 win over Brentford at London Stadium.  The Hammer are up to eighth in the table on 39 points.

Up next at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, strap yourselves in for three home matches in 7 days.  West Ham host Burnley on Sunday 10 March followed by another clash between the claret and blue.  This time against high-flying Aston Villa on Sunday 17 March.  In between there’s the small matter of a last-16 showdown with SC Freiburg in the Europa League under the London Stadium lights on Thursday 14 March.

Electric winger and fan favourite Jarrod Bowen chas been prolific this campaign for the Hammers.  Mohammed Kudus oozes flair when he plays while James Ward-Prowse keeps the midfield ticking over.
