The current Open Champion Henrik Stenson will be many people’s pick to end the weekend as the 2017 Scottish Open champion.  But he’ll face fierce opposition from numerous world-class players including the current world number four and four-time major champion Rory McIlroy.  2016 winner Alex Noren (main picture) from Sweden is back to defend his crown and another golfer looking to shine is 2013 Master Champion Adam Scott from Australia.  A ten-time European Tour winner Scott is currently ranked world number 10.

Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish OpenA strong presence from the USA is led by 2009 Open Champion Stuart Cink who along with top-20 stars Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar and Patrick Reed will be looking to take the title back with them over the pond.  Closer to home Russell Knox and Richie Ramsay head up a Scottish challenge with Knox (pictured left in action on the 18th tee at the 2016 Scottish Open at Castle Stuart) aiming to recapture the form that saw him claim the biggest victory of his career at the WGC-HSBC Champions in China in November 2015.  Aberdeen-native Ramsay will not be lacking in confidence after his joint second place finish to Jon Rahm at last week’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, a result that sealed his place at The Open Championship and saw Ramsey leap up 171 places in the Official World Golf Rankings.
