Men’s and Women’s National League Division 1. A triple-header of fixtures to enjoy this afternoon at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.
First up at 12.15pm it’s a men’s fixture between Hillhead and Edinburgh University. Both teams are coming off the back of a loss, most noticeably Hillhead who had the misfortune to come up against a rampant Kelburne Bromac side last Sunday and suffered a 6-0 defeat for their troubles. At 1.30pm it’s Hillhead Ladies’ 1s v GHK Ladies’ 1s and with both teams struggling towards the foot of Division 1 and having lost narrowly to Milne Craig and CALA respectively last time out a tense, close match is in store.
Then at 3pm it’s back to the men as league leaders Kelburne Bromac take on bottom of the table Watsonians. This looks something of a mismatch with Kelburne boasting a record of eight wins from eight matches so far this season and averaging more than six goals a game, compared with Watsonians record of played nine, lost nine. It’s fair to say the Watsonians goalkeeper will be a busy man this afternoon and needs to be in the form of his life if Watsonians are to pull of an unlikely win.
