šŸ‘ Prizes donā€™t get much bigger and the stakes donā€™t much higher.  The hockey Olympic Qualifiers feature Great Britain’s men and women against Malaysia and Chile respectively with a place in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games the prize. Tickets are on sale now!

Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre is the venue for what promises to be a weekend of pure sporting theatre.  On the afternoons of 2 and 3 November Great Britain’s men and women play off in a hockey Olympic Qualifier series for their places at next year’s Tokyo Olympics and a chance to win the biggest prize in hockey.

Great Britain’s women are the reigning Olympic champions having beaten the Netherlands in Rio in 2016, winning the gold medal after an epic encounter that went to a dramatic penalty shootout watched live by over 9 million people on BBC TV.  But … being champions does carry with it automatic qualification to Tokyo 2020 and hence GB’s women must beat Chile this weekend if they are to defend their title.

The format is a two-legged qualifier, played on two consecutive days on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in which the team with the highest aggregate score will qualify for the Olympics.
