Stand by for the finest day’s racing of the Scottish flat season with no less than £425,000 in prize money over eight first class races. The racing menu for the day includes the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup, the William Hill Ayr Silver Cup, the William Hill Firth of Clyde Stakes – Scotland’s only Group Race and the The William Hill Handicap (for the Kilkerran Cup). The very best of flat racing in Scotland – truly mouth watering and not to be missed!
The William Hill Ayr Gold Cup is the blue riband flat race in Scotland. Featuring up to 25 top handicap sprinters surging down the six furlong sprint course in quest of glory this prestigious sprint race has been won by many of the leading jockeys including Frankie Dettori all of whom are keen to add this race to their list of titles. With £200,000 of prize money for this race alone not only is it the richest flat race in Scotland but is also one of the premier races in the United Kingdom flat calendar. Last year the brilliant Brando captured the big prize and became the highest-ever rated horse to do so.
The day also features Scotland’s only Group race, the William Hill Firth of Clyde Stakes, a Class 1 Group 3 contest, the William Hill Ayr Silver Cup and The William Hill Handicap (for the Kilkerran Cup).
There’s also live music and entertainment throughout the day and into the night including the Beatles Revolution who play before and during racing from 12.00 pm until 5.30 pm in the Tennent’s In The Tent Marquee within the Grandstand. The White Band will be appearing in the Horseshoe Bar within the Club Stand from approximately 5.05 pm – 8.05 pm, while the The Bourbon Street Jazz Men will be playing throughout the afternoon from 12.30 pm – 5.30 pm in the Champagne Lawns and their traditional jazz sounds provide a hugely relaxing atmosphere. And Colin McCardle, a DJ who guarantees to pack the dance floor, will be playing in the Ayrshire Suite within the Grandstand from 5.45 pm until 8.30 pm.
