Day One of the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival, Scotland’s biggest and richest flat race meeting with £730,000 in prize-money spread over three days and a total of 22 races. A historical meeting in the racing calendar featuring the leading stars of horseracing – jockeys, trainers and horses – this is flat racing at its very best. Tickets are available.
The Ayr Gold Cup Festival explodes into action this afternoon as the curtain go up on Scotland’s richest Flat race meeting of the year. On course the highlight of a eight-race card is the Class 1 Listed William Hill Doonside Cup, one of the top races of the year run at the track. Off the track our hotly contested best dressed ladies competition continues with several lucky ladies winning a place in tomorrow’s grand final. The fun then continues for another three hours after racing with the fabulous Waterfront playing in the Horseshoe Bar within the Club area.

2.10pm The Western House Handicap Stakes – 1m £10,000 Class 4
2.40pm The Barclays Bank Handicap Stakes – 7f 50y £7,000 Class 5
3.10pm The The Hillhouse Quarry Supporting the Ayrshire Hospice Handicap Stakes – 1m 5f £7,000 Class 5
3.45pm The British Stallion Studs Scottish Premier Series EBF Fillies’ Handicap Stakes – 1m 2f £12,500 Class 4
4.20pm The William Hill Doonside Cup Stakes (Listed Race) – 1m 2f £65,000 Class 1
4.50pm The SM Signs Handicap Stakes – 5f £7,000 Class 5
