Kempton Park Racecourse

🏇 Kempton Park Racecourse’s Big Day Out is under starters orders with high-energy racing the order of the afternoon followed by an after-party hosted by celebrity DJ Fearne Cotton.  First race at 12.20pm and tickets are available.

Kempton Park RacecourseThe listed Magnolia Stakes is the feature race on a quality afternoon of All-Weather flat racing.  A total of seven races are on the card and alongside the Magnolia Stakes – which is at 2.05pm – the Roseberry Handicap Stakes at 3.15pm is guaranteed to attract some good thoroughbreds with a prize pot of £50,000 at stake.  The last race is at 5pm after which the entertainment switches from the Parade Ring and the winning straight into the main grandstand for an after-party hosted by Fearne Cotton. 

One to watch: All eyes will be on Matterhorn in the in the feature race at 2.05pm.  Trained by Mark Johnston – who last summer became the most successful trainer in British racing history saddling his 4,194th winner – and ridden by Joe Fanning, Matterhorn has six victories so far in the 2018/19 All-Weather Championships and five consecutive victories in handicaps.

It promises to be a memorable afternoon of action at the historic Kempton Park course – where horse racing has taken place since 1878 – based just 16 miles from central London.

🎟️ Tickets on the day available on the gate.  Under 18s (maximum of 2) are free when accompanied by an adult.

🚊🚗 Travel tips: Kempton Park Racecourse is located just 16 miles from the city and 6 miles from Heathrow Airport.  It is easily accessible by both rail and car.  Kempton Park station is a 2 minute walk from the North Entrance and a 45 minute train journey from London Waterloo.  If arriving by car for the Christmas Festival you can book parking in advance on-site at the same time as purchasing a ticket, but not places are selling fast.  There is also free parking in the centre of the course, accessible via Gate 6 on the A308 (Staines Road East).

If parking here, please note course crossings close 30 minutes before racing starts and re-open 30 minutes after the last race.  There is also a free Park & Ride service from the BP site on Cadbury Road (TW16 7LN for your Sat Nav) which is approximately ten minutes from the racecourse, with buses running all morning and then re-commencing after the last race.
