Day 2 of the action as Holyrood Sports Centre hosts a weekend of top-class volleyball action with an international flavour and including the Scottish men’s national team.
For Scotland the tournament is valuable preparation for June’s European Small Countries Division Finals hosted by the European Volleyball Confederation. The the team will be buoyed by the return of two Team GB Olympians from London 2012 – Mark McGivern and Chris Lamont – who are currently playing their volleyball in Europe in France and Holland respectively. Joining them is one to watch, Seain Cook, ex Team Northumbria player.
Today’s match up is an intriguing one with Scotland taking on Team Northumbria from Newcastle who have just won the Volleyball England National League and Cup Double. Currently the top domestic team in the UK, attracting players from USA and Europe, Team Northumbria will be a tough team to beat, but represent a great challenge for the Scottish boys.
Action on court starts at 11am. Tickets on the day only and free entry. Don’t miss a unique opportunity to watch some of the country’s finest players up close and personal!
