CONGRATULATIONS to Princeton University, the 2022 London Basketball Classic champions!  The Tigers, as they are known, came from behind to defeat Northeastern University 56-54 in a nail-biting final.  Stay tuned here for news of the 2023 tournament as soon as published.  And in the meantime … 👇

2022 CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW

It’s all to play for at the Copper Box Arena this week with four NCAA Division 1 teams set to take part in the first-ever edition of the London Basketball Classic.

Princeton University men’s basketball team (known as the Tigers) will be joined by Manhattan College and Northeastern University, along with Army Black Knights

In a championship format the two winning teams from the opening night (Thursday 24 November) will advance to the championship game on Saturday 26 November, which will also feature the two losing sides from the opening night in a third-place game.

The opening might matches are confirmed as Manhattan v NorthEastern and Princeton v Black Knights.

“It is an absolute honour to announce Army West Point as the fourth and final team for our first ever London Basketball Classic.  Our event, taking place at the Copper Box Arena — home of the BBL London Lions – will feature four fantastic, NCAA Division I teams.  We hope to celebrate Thanksgiving in style with the support of the great British basketball fans on 24 and 26 November,” said Marc Mulholland, executive director of the London Basketball Classic, Inspirus Sports.

“We are thrilled to be one of the four teams to participate in the London Basketball Classic this year,” said Princeton Tigers head coach Mitch Henderson. “It is an incredible opportunity for our student-athletes to experience international hoops while representing Princeton University.  We are thankful for this opportunity and excited to compete with the other teams in London.”

🎟️ Tickets are currently off-sale. 

🕒 Tip-off for Match Day 1 on Thursday 24 November is 5pm. 

🕒 Tip-off for Match Day 2 on Saturday 26 November is 2.30pm tbc.

🚊🚗 Travel tips: Public transport is recommended.  The nearest railway stations are Hackney Wick overground and Stratford International station (latter accessible from London St Pancras) both approximately a 10-minute walk.  Stratford (with links to the underground and DLR) station is about a 15-minute walk.  Plan your journey at the Transport for London website.  Limited parking is available at the Copper Box Arena, however parking is available at the nearby Westfield Shopping Centre.
