Old Anniesland is the venue for Glasgow Hawks v Hawick, a first fixture of 2016 for both teams who currently lie just outside the top four in the BT Premiership.
Glasgow Hawks enjoyed a mixed end to 2015, a 33-15 win at Selkirk preceded by a 18-13 reverse at home to Currie, a set of results that has the Hawks in sixth place in the table on 40 points, some 7 points adrift of Currie who are in fourth. Today’s visitors Hawick have not played for nearly a month since a 35-18 home win over Selkirk albeit are one place above Hawks on 42 points, and within touching distance of Currie and the play-off places.
Neither team can afford to lose today at Old Anniesland if they are not to risk being cut adrift in mid-table. With the business end of the season approaching and the fight for the top four places heating up an absorbing match is in prospect.
Kick-off is at 3pm.
Admission on the day: Adults £10/Over-65s £7/Students £3/U18s free. Note: vehicle access to the Glasgow Hawks ground is off Anniesland Road and not Crow Road.
