Peebles Rugby Club is the venue for this afternoon’s Peebles 7s, the perfect way to get in the mood for the new rugby union season.
For the first time the Peebles 7s is played in the summer, with a Ladies Day theme. The first tie kicks off at 1:30pm with action taking place throughout the afternoon with the final due to take place at 6:30pm.
The fun continues after the rugby with a Red Arrows flypast over Gytes scheudled for 7.34pm. Evening entertainment in the form of a live band ‘So Driven’ and a disco will be held in the marquee – the band starting after the flypast and the disco with DJ Piers on the decks from 9:30pm till late – entry is free to those in hospitality and £5 for others. There will also be a public bar available in the evening.
Today’s Peebles 7s tournament will follow the traditional 16-team straight knockout format. The Peebles 7s side will be joined by teams including Melrose, Hawick, Gala, Berwick, Selkirk, Edinburgh Accies and Jedforest.
First tie at the Peebles 7s takes place at 1.30pm.
Standard admission is on the day priced: Adults £10/Concessions £5/Under 12s free. Entry to the sevens will also be free for registered Tour o’ the Borders participants who can show proof of registration at the gate.
