North Inch, Perth, is the location for the Perth Highland Games one of the most popular events in the Highland Games calendar and this year taking place on Sunday 9 August.
Today’s Perth Highland Games include traditional heavyweight events like throwing weights and hammers and tossing the caber. In addition, there’s highland dancing, foot and cycle races, solo piping and the very popular pipe band contest with large numbers of overseas bands often taking part. A wide range of trade and craft stands will cater for shopping and catering needs with a fairground providing an amusement area for children of all ages.
Competitions start at 10am (full programme below) with action throughout the day including the Chieftains’ welcome at 1pm and Massed Pipe Bands at 5pm bringing the day.
