Pitlochry Highland Games

The Pitlochry Highland Games returns on Saturday 12 September 2020, a popular annual event first held in 1852 and always a fitting finale to the Games season.  Events commence from 10.30am with guaranteed admission on the gate.

Taking place at the Recreation Ground in Pitlochry, the Games attract a crowd in the region of 7,000 drawn by the prospect of witnessing a large field of quality track and field athletes alongside an excellent contingent of dancers and Pipe Bands.

See below for a guide to the day’s events with (approximate) start times.

Pipe Bands – Parade down Atholl Road from 11.45 hrs and their Competition starts at 1.00 pm (around 17 Bands).

Highland Dancing Competitions – all day

Individual Piping Competitions – all day

Heavy Events – Tossing the Caber, Throwing the Hammer etc – these Events take place throughout the day

Track Events – Running Cycling Childrens Races etc – all day

Tug o’War Championship – afternoon

Drum Majors Demo around 1645 if time permits

Massed Bands around 5pm.

Action starts at the Pitlochry Highland Games from 10.30am finishing around 5.30pm.

Admission is on the day (cash only) priced: Adults £8/Children (5 – 16 years) £2.  There is no limit on the numbers who can attend so you are guaranteed to get in!
